WHAT could be the 'best Ford Capri ever' with a retro cassette player and aerial will transport you back to the 1980s as it arrives at auction.

The mint motor in diamond white was registered in 1986 during the height of the Thatcher years.

The original radio cassette and electric aerial will take the owner back to the year George Michael and Andrew Ridgley decided to go there separate ways.

The 74,397 on the clock is not bad considering the motor has been on the roads for nearly 40 years.

The burly 2.7 litre engine with fuel injection still has plenty of welly and could be the perfect tonic for a driver fed up with modern motors.

The new owner of the 2.8 Injection Special might feel a bit like Terry in the Minder, who famously cruised the streets of South London in a cracking Capri.

The motor is a rare automatic model, and comes with very nice Goodyear 15in tyres.

The seller thinks the car could take the owner back in time. The advert reads: "Perhaps it’s because it was the car we always promised
ourselves, or maybe it was Bodie and Doyle tail sliding through
boxes on TV?

"Whatever it was, Britain took the Capri to its heart and for several years after production stopped elsewhere, we still got the blue collar coupé.

"And what a car we got. The final 2.8 Injection Special was one of the best versions from the Capri’s long history."

It isn't the only Capri that's been up for sale recently, as an extremely rare and "well maintained" Capri Turbo that's just one of 200 ever made has hit auction.

This particular motor was sold new in Switzerland and remained there until it was sold to a Danish petrolhead.

Elsewhere, shocking photos have emerged of a £300,000 Ferrari smashed up after it crashed on one of London's affluent streets.

Another 80s classic just fetched a cool £21,993 at a recent Car & Classic auction, having undergone a complete repaint and engine-out restoration.
