Punters are left stunned by 'wonder horse' who could be racings next big thing

June 2024 · 3 minute read

BAAEED announced himself as racing's next big thing when scoring at Goodwood in 2021 and Al Asifah could be his successor.

She sent social media into a frenzy when blitzing her rivals on Sunday and looks to have the world at her hooves.

Owned by Shadwell, Al Asifah caught the eye when decimating her rivals on debut at Haydock last month.

She reappeared as the 4-7 favourite for the Listed Agnes Keyser Stakes and left punters questioning what they'd just witnessed.

Cruising up on the bridle under a confident Jim Crowley, when he asked his filly to quicken, she came out of his hands and sauntered clear by six lengths.

Crowley didn't have to take his filly out of second gear and punters are already relishing the prospect of seeing her again.

"Baaeed vibes," said one punter, while another said: "Wow, effortless acceleration. You don't see that often."

Another added: "She's not had a race there, that was basically a piece of work - she's very, very good."

Baaeed, also owned by Shadwell, announced himself as a star when bolting up at Goodwood in similar fashion and this filly could have the ability to match him.

Although he ended his career with defeat, Baaeed had gone unbeaten in ten prior starts and had been compared to Frankel by many.

Unsurprisingly, Al Asifah is a daughter of the legendary Frankel and is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Awtaad.

Trained by all-conquering combination of John and Thady Gosden, she's in the perfect place to improve hand over first.

Al Asifah holds no future entries, but the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood could be a target.

The Gosdens won the race last year with Nashwa and John has landed it five times in total.

The Irish Oaks is another potential angle that has been put forward, which would test her metal against some of the best fillies in her age group.

She's never likely to go off odds against again, but get her in your tracker, because you won't want to miss what she does next. . .
