A FOOD-FLUENCER has left people’s mouths watering after sharing her “lazy girl” Nando’s fakeaway that just needs a spin in the air fryer.
Rebecca Finley is a food content creator who shares “healthier family friendly recipes” and has a staunch dislike towards “diet” food.
The Manchester local posts under the social media moniker Becs Bites and is a particular fan of lazy girl meals - delicious recipes that don’t take much effort to pull together.
In a TikTok video that has totted up nearly four million views, she shared how she brings the South African flavours of Nando’s to her kitchen.
The chicken and halloumi recipe takes just 18 minutes in the air fryer and according to Becs, gives you “the juiciest chicken and lovely crisp halloumi”.
To begin, she hasselback cuts some chicken breasts and makes the scores deep enough to fit some chunks of halloumi in.

When cutting with the hasselback method, it’s important to only score the meat and not cut all the way through it.
“I usually find four to five cuts is enough,” Becs said. “And sprinkle over your Nando’s seasoning of choice.
“Add some pieces of halloumi into each slit. I use about 50g and I like to use a light halloumi.
“You only need half a slice per slit. I like to keep it thicker, but shorter, if that makes sense? As opposed to thinner but the full height of the halloumI.

“Then mix two teaspoons of Nando’s sauce of your choice and two teaspoons of honey per breast.”
Becs demonstrated how she seasons her chicken breasts, adding that she’s a “garlic girly forever” when it comes to Nando’s flavours.
She brushes the sauce and honey combination over the chicken, making sure to “get right in the cracks”/
Becs added that you can probably make the recipe without the honey but she finds it helps the chicken, halloumi and seasoning all stick together.
One seasoned, it needs to sit in the air fryer for 18 to 22 minutes, depending on how thick your breasts are.
“You get the juiciest chicken and lovely crispy halloumi,” Becs said.
“I served mine with some griddled tender stem and homemade Nando’s style fries.”
You can make Nando’s style fries by tossing thick cut chips in the brand’s peri-peri salt.
Becs’ Nando’s fakeaway comes to just 470 calories with a whopping 57g of protein. The chicken on its own is 313 calories with 52g of protein.
