HE is known as the flamboyant millionaire who saved Salford Red Devils from going under.
But what's Koukash's background, and how much is he worth? Here's everything you need to know about the 60-year-old with a flair for finding the winning horse.
Who is Marwan Koukash?
Koukash was born in the West Bank in December 1958.
His family farm was bombed when he was only eight years old.
He walked with his mother and seven siblings for three days without food until they reached the River Jordan.
They were then forced to spend three years in a refugee camp before moving to Kuwait.
Later, Koukash moved to the UK to progress his education, settling in St. Helens in Merseyside to study at the local technical college.
After graduating from Liverpool John Moores University he continued his studies, obtaining a PhD in electrical engineering.
He taught at the university for five years, and was appointed Director of International Business.
In 1992, he set up corporate training company EuroMaTech, with which he made his fortune.
What's his background in horse racing and rugby?
Koukash was introduced to horse racing by his bank manager, Dave Matthews, and had his first winner in 2007.
In 2012, he had 101 winners, who accumulated over £1m in prize money.
It is believed he is now the biggest race horse owner in Britain, with many of his horses named after his son Gabrial, and daughters Lexi and Layla.
He also owns a pre-training facility in Knowlsey.
In 2013, Koukash took over the loss-making rugby club Salford City Reds.
While rescuing the club from potential collapse, he also became known for his antics and outbursts.
He announced his intention to sell the club in 2013, and in February 2018, the Betfred Super League club was taken over by a new not-for-profit holding company, Salford RD Holdings.
Koukash confirmed the deal on Twitter, writing: "Today I transferred control of @SalfordDevils to a new board and would want to wish them all the very best.
