Jessica Simpson revealed that she and husband Eric Johnson were suffering from “baby fever” in April 2018. “We always practice,” the pop-star-turned-fashion-mogul told Entertainment Tonight about having a third child. “But it would definitely have to be a miracle.”
Five months later, on September 18, Simpson announced on Instagram that Maxwell and Ace would be getting little sister. “This baby girl will make us a family of five,” the singer wrote. “We couldn’t be happier to announce this precious blessing of life.”
Birdie Mae made her debut in March 2019, and the fashion designer celebrated her youngest’s 1st birthday the following year with an Instagram slideshow.
“You have created in me a healing purposeful life to live most fully and love most deeply,” Simpson wrote to her “angel baby” in March 2020. “With you my soul has been set free to the beauty of pure light. You guide me to shine because your heartbeat connected me to mine. Sweet baby girl, you have illuminated all of our worlds with your bright mystical star-bursting smile. I am forever yours, you are forever mine. Life get ready because the both of us were born ready. I love you!”
She and Johnson started growing their family in 2012 and tied the knot two years later. The Texas native called the athlete her “perfect soulmate” on their 6th wedding anniversary in July 2020.
“Our unity was written in God’s sky of colliding stars,” she captioned a photo with the former professional football player. “Together we manifest dreams, nurture desire and hold space. Destined, it always has been and always will be, forevermore.”
During an interview with Us Weekly in April 2022, the actress revealed that she didn’t have plans to have more kids. “I have no baby fever,” she exclusively told Us at the time. “The third pregnancy for me [in 2019], that was it. I can’t do that again. The last pregnancy for me was really hard.”

The Dukes of Hazzard star found that that having a child “later in life” was “a lot harder” than she expected. “It’s just something that you end up accepting,” Simpson added. “I got a great child out of it who I adore and love and she rules the house. She definitely is the most heard in the family.”
