ELIZABETH Hurley has revealed that she healed the rift with her son Damian's dad before his suicide.
Multi-millionaire film producer Steve Bing was found dead after he leapt from his 27th floor apartment in LA on 22 June this year.
Liz and her ex had a difficult relationship over the years after he made it clear he wanted nothing to do with their son.
Speaking of his death, she told You magazine: "It’s very sad… just terrible.
"Horrific that it happened but there is some comfort to know we had made up and there was no bad feeling."
Steve and Liz were only together for a short while in 2001 and he once claimed they were "never exclusive".
Damian, 18, was born on April 4, 2002 - after Liz and Steve had split up.
At the time, he insisted the child was not his but a DNA test later proved he was the biological father.
"We hadn’t been friends for a very long time…" she said.
"But about a year and a half ago he came back into our lives."
Liz explained that the reunion was "complicated" but "he did reach out".
Shockingly Steve excluded both Damian and his other daughter Kira Kerkorian, 21, from his will almost two decades before his suicide, court documents obtained by The Sun revealed.
"None of it’s really my story, because it’s all to do with Damian," Liz said.
"All I can say is that it was great to connect again with someone who… we had loved each other, very much. A long time ago."
Bing included sections in his will that outlined his desire to leave nothing for any of his offspring.
Bing's decision came despite the Hollywood investor amassing his fortune via a $600million inheritance from his grandfather when he turned 18.
"I have recently been informed by an individual that she is pregnant with my child, and I here by declare that whether or not such child is mine, it is my intention not to provide in this Will for such child (or any other child as to which I may be the father) in this Will or for the offspring of any such child or children, whether now living or here after born," the document read.
The seven-page document also included an "intentional omission" clause where Bing stressed that he had "full knowledge" of what this would mean for his children.
"I have, except as otherwise specified in this Will, in full knowledge omitted to provide for my heirs, expressly including, but not limited to, any person now living or hereafter born who is, or claims to be, my spouse, my child or the issue of deceased child of mine," it continues.
"My decision not to provide for any child living at the time of my death, expressly including, without limitation, [any] child as to whose birth [I] am unaware, is based upon many reasons, such that Section 21622 of the California Probate Code shall not be applied to any such child.
"My-Executor is hereby authorized to defend, at the expense of the trust estate, any contest..."
Bing was found dead outside a luxury apartment building in Century City, California, on the afternoon of Monday, June 22.
He had been suffering from depression and financial struggles, according to reports.
Hurley dated the 55-year-old back in 2001 and they shared a son, now 18-year-old Damian.
Bing also had 21-year-old Kira with former tennis player Lisa Bonder but didn't know he was the father until years later.
He later formed relationships with both Damian and Kira, even fighting for them to be included in their grandfather's trust last year.
YOU'RE NOT ALONE
EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.
It doesn't discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society - from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.
It's the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.
And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.
Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.
That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.
The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.
Let's all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others... You're Not Alone.
If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:
