Nationals are finally upon us, and Dance Moms Season 5 Episode 31 upped the drama, in-fighting, bedlam and ridiculousness accordingly.
Watch Dance Moms Season 5 Episode 31 OnlineIf you watch Dance Moms online, you are not gonna wanna miss the finale, appropriately titled "Chaos at Nationals," because obviously.
We began with Abby’s West Coast dance studio, ALDC LA, about to open at last, but first, it’s time for the weekly dance assignments.
Not shockingly, Maddie Ziegler is gifted a solo, and despite being openly issued a threat otherwise, Nia Frazier is also given a solo.
Up against them will be Jeanette Cota’s BDA (Broadway Dance Academy), and Jeanette’s daughter, Ava, will be taking on Maddie.
Nia’s song skips right in the middle of her performance, cutting 30 seconds of her dance … an act of sabotage or pure, terrible luck?!
Maddie and Ava perform to widespread adulation.
The BDA performs a group routine, “Moving Target,” that Jeanette calls an ode to Abby’s constant criticism of her daughter and studio.
Passive-aggressive payback game on point.
For their part, the ALDC’s contemporary routine tells the moving story of a group of individuals who are inside a hospital waiting room.
During the awards ceremony, Nia places second in the teen division, with Maddie as the runner-up and Ava claiming the top spot.
The BDA also comes out on top for groups.
After learning the results, Abby calls the competition "a joke” and tells the moms to request their money back from the event organizers.
Sour grapes much? She insists otherwise.
"The first moment that man opened his mouth, I knew this was a s–t show and we were in big trouble," Abby says of the announcer.
"I cannot sit there one more second and have our work that we put in all year long, all season, go down in flames like this."
Abby this tells her students to exit the stage.
When the announcer informs her they cannot do so, she responds that “you can’t hold children against their will in the state of California."
Not over-dramatic at all there, ALM.
She later tells the cameras, fighting off tears, “My kids worked their butts off to be the best that they could be and then this happens?"
“I’m sure the whole world is going to think poorly of me, but I’m out here in LA and I feel like I’m just flying by the seat of my pants.”
"The journey that we have been on has been overwhelming and I just opened a brand new studio here. What’s going to happen with us?"
She concludes, "I am scared to death."
We are too … for society.
